Our vision for VEDIKE Global School is to provide affordable, student-centred, quality education for children in rural Bangalore, specifically focusing on underprivileged children, such as those from families of a low socio-economic status, and children from traditionally disadvantaged groups. VEDIKE Global School is recognised by the Government of Karnataka. Our Pre-Primary School (Nursery, LKG and UKG) has been operational since June 2018 and we will be opening our Primary School (Standards/Grades 1-5) in June 2019.
VCH was initiated with the goal of providing stable housing, sanitation, food, clothing, school supplies, additional lessons and extra-curricular activities for underprivileged children, including orphans, from rural Bangalore. Over the past few years the Government and NGOs (including Vedike) have made tremendous efforts to improve the living situation of the poor and under-privileged, through initiatives such as housing and sanitation schemes, making it easier for families to take care of their children at home. This has made us rethink our strategy and focus on addressing the need for quality education through Vedike Global School.
Through the GCLC, we aim to provide vocational/livelihood training for the local community and programs for Indian and International students/volunteers/interns to engage with the ongoing development issues that VEDIKE works to address in rural Bangalore.
VEDIKE heavily relies on donations/fundraising to run our school, provide for the children living on campus and to continue the construction our facilities. (Please find the donation details below.)
VEDIKE collaborates with Global Citizens for Sustainable Development to host the GCSD WE BUILD program in July and November/December and the Global Citizens Teach in India program in August and November (and other times, depending on the needs of visiting volunteer groups). We also welcome individuals and groups to volunteer all throughout the year at our campus in rural Bangalore.
